Hopper atop backpack

Hopper atop backpack

"Shiroi! I like riding on your backpack!"
"Oh, you do, Hopper?"
"Yes! Especially when we are going to travel to another event where you can photograph me with pretty talents, or kirei tarentos as Japanese might say, something like that. And in the meantime I can bounce along with your buttons!"
"A bouncing buttons bunny?"
"Of sorts, Shiroi! And I can show people how I am still the cutest animal on your pack!"
"Well, Miffy and others may have a few things to say about that, Hopper."
"Tell everyone about what's on your pack, Shiroi! Or else I will!"
"You will anyway too, Hopper. You know you'll chime in with commentary as always."
"Oooh, cool, Shiroi; the next time you complain about my bunny sounds, I'll remind you that you admitted they sound like chimes. Especially like wind chimes from the speed of my hops!"
"If you hop off my pack when we are traveling, you'll miss the events, Hopper."
"Don't I know it, Shiroi. Now who's on top?"
"Er, starting with Ai Tokunaga..."
"I mean on the top of your pack! It's me, your one and only Hopper, riding along!"
"You've made that perfectly clear, Hopper."
"Below that, you better add a bunch of notes to help people figure out who you are blathering about, Shiroi."
"Er, OK, Hopper. On the top left is Ai Tokunaga with a horn. She was an idol singer, now is just a voice actress."
"What a charming voice, too, Shiroi! And in the middle top?"
"Marie Suzuki wearing a dress and hair flowers in concert, I think at Kameido Sun Street Rambling Market, Hopper."
"So delightful and cute! Ramble on, Shiroi!"
"On the top right, Ai Tokunaga again, in the studio with red background."
"And below?"
"Ai Tokunaga is leading an animated parade of animal characters, and it says, 'Love Live Life.'"
"Such good advice, Shiroi! She is doing that these days while we miss her!"
"Yes, Hopper. And just below the first Marie Suzuki button is another one of her face, seeming to be laughing."
"So happy, Shiroi! And to her right?"
"Singer Asaka Kubo, Hopper."
"With some kind of red beach gears on! Oh boy! But she wasn't wearing that in concert when we saw her! Why not, Shiroi?"
"For the same reason she did not wear a dress on the beach, Hoper. And no one says 'beach gears.'"
"Until your bunny Hopper! Cutie lingo innovator again! Next down and to the left?"
"One of the buttons I bought at a concert of the J-pop idol trio Melodybee Honey, Hopper."
"It just says their name, but you have a set of their pics here, with more to come! Yay! And in the third middle position down?"
"Cohana from Scramble Tamago, Hopper."
"With a bikini top again! Wowzers. Yellow this time. Why didn't she wear..."
"I don't know everything about why a singer wears or doesn't wear something at a concert or while being photographed elsewhere, Hopper! Duh!"
"Waddling right along, next it's the Suica pingu! That means penguin! Everyone should check your 'Suica pingu' set for more about him, Shiroi! Hey, way off to the right, what does that apple thing mean?"
"It says 'I' and there is a heart and it is in an apple, Image, that refers to singer Ringo Sono. Her name means 'apple.'"
"She looked tasty when we saw her in concert, too! Get on with your buttons, then talk about the dangly animals last but not least!"
"Below the penguin is Purin, the Pokemon known as Jigglypuff in English. Jigglypuff seduces enemies with lullabies and puffs like a balloon."
"Yipes, Shiroi! Don't let Purin pop! Hey, I see a little Miffy!"
"Yes, Hopper, below the lowest zipper with the big arc, on the left, is the bunny Miffy with a blue shirt, waving."
"He knows everyone loves Miffy! At least lotsa cutie girl bunnies and cutie girl humans do! Now how about that dangly heart?"
"It says 'pile.' She is a J-pop singer, too."
"We loved her concert and pretty face, too! Hey, I see a mostly orangey brown doggie face!"
"Yes a square button, stamp style, Hopper."
"So cute! But still not quite as cute as bunnies like me! Uuuuh...what's the different kinda button below him, Shiroi? Not looking too female despite the longish hair."
"Um...Leif Garrett, Hopper."
"Snx snx snx..."
"What's your problem, fur clump?"
"Youuuuu gotta old school boy idol button you somehow saved from the 70's, Shiroi! Hee hee hee. Leif Garrett. Did you think he was Asian or something?"
"You know I like various entertainers from all over the world, Hopper. He was real big in South Korea, broke some records there."
"Like his cover of 'Bun a Mound Stew'?"
"You mean 'Runaround Sue,' fur mound."

Day 1

Day 1

Day 01 - A picture of yourself with fifteen facts

1. POETRY. i LOVE poetry.
i have a stack of poetry books by my bedside right now: D.H. Lawrence, Yeats, Rilke, Dylan Thomas, Leonard Cohen (Book of Longing) and the complete poetry of Allen Ginsberg. current favourite: Irving Layton, a romanian-born canadian poet.

2. THINK LIKE A TRAVELER. my current mantra, which i adopted recently.
i did a major purge in late august, so now everything i own in DC--with the exception of my dresser drawers and my bike--could all probably fit into a car... okay, okay an SUV-ish car! ;)

3. BIBLIOPHILE. i like to trade books.
if you have a book you have finished reading and want another, ask me to see if i have any books i have already read that i wouldn't mind trading. OR, i can give you a book, and later you can give me one. give and take and vice-versa. doesn't matter. i only keep poetry and a special few. my philosophy about books is: there's no time to read books twice when there's so many great ones out there, so why keep them if i am not going to read them twice? i would rather pass on the good stuff!

4. ANGLOPHILE. i have been within 6 feet of Prince Charles.
when i was in 6th grade in 1998, Princes Charles, William and Harry came to visit Burnaby South Secondary, the campus of the secondary BCSD program. the BCSD kids from the elementary campus 20 mins away all went up to South to see the Princes. we were given passes and waited freaking forever in the gym. then we went to the Deaf zone in the school and waited a bit longer for the Princes to come and sign the guest book there. it was pretty cool, but all i really remember is Prince Charles and a buttload of waiting. it was spectacularly... unexciting.

5. EPICUREAN. in august, i posed a challenge to myself: attempt veganism.
it was an interesting 3 months. being a vegan (okay, vegan-ish) made me really look closely at what i eat and what goes into my body. i had to examine all packaged foods very carefully to see what was in it, and some surprising discoveries were made (worcestershire sauce isn't vegan, and neither are marshmallows nor horlicks!). i drink my tea without milk now. i thought it would be hard to do that, but it wasn't and as it turns out, it is actually the proper way to drink Earl Grey. anyway, i digress, my 3-month vegan experiment forced me to get creative with my cooking skills, expand my gastronomic horizons and add some interesting equipment to my kitchen repertoire. i'd have laughed at you if you had told me 3 months ago that i'd end up owning an avocado slicer or even liking tofu!

6. TEAHEAD! i drink a cup of Earl Grey every morning, and i am working on rebuilding my tea selection. my mother says that when i was a baby in London, England, my "child-minder" would put tea in my bottle. disgustingly british, no?

7. PEARS. nevermind apples, pears are where the fun's at!

8. TATTOOS. i have three small tattoos right now. i want MORE. i hope to end up with half-sleeves one day.

9. MY LEG. my left leg is one inch shorter than my right.

10. WINO. do i really need to explain this?! all wine is good wine!

11. BORING HAIR. the only remotely interesting hairdo i've had was when i was in 6th grade, i had super short hair in the back and long in the front. but ever since the only jazz has been hair dye (blonde and fire-engine red), along with bangs and whatever length. BOOOO! that needs to change! i'd sign over my firstborn if i found a hairdresser that gave me a hip and cool haircut that doesn't make me look RIDICULOUS.

12. FENCING. i used to fence for a few years. i wasn't that great, but it was tons of fun! i still have my fencing bag in my parents' basement w/ my epee, sabre, mask and fencing jacket/knickers. every now and then i open up the bag and look at my things, and sometimes put them on just for old times' sake. my favourite is my fencing glove, it's so soft, comfortable, well-worn and fits like a... well, you know. one day i'll maybe get back into fencing if i have the income for it.

13. GUANYIN. i have a large wall decoration of her above my bed, and a little figurine on my dresser. she is very, very special to me. "Some Buddhists believe that when one of their adherents departs from this world, they are placed by Guanyin in the heart of a lotus then sent home to the Western Paradise." i am a non-theist, but how cool is that? and i like this: "champion of the unfortunate, the sick, the disabled, the poor, and those in trouble," and "the protector of fishermen, sailors, and generally people who are out at sea." (wiki)

14. TRI-CITIZEN. i have passports for three countries: canada, US & UK. my UK one is expired and from when i was 2... i have all the papers and documents i need to renew it, but i have no pressing need yet. i'll get around to it eventually.

15. CRAZY-ISH. why? i talk/sign to myself. i'm always lost in my own world. i make up conversations with imaginary people. i live in washin
